Tom Messick
Owner/Operator
Owner-Operator Tom Messick was born in Penticton, British Columbia, to first-generation Canadian parents and moved with his family to the Edmonton area when he was six.
Tom has always had an interest in business and working with people. During high school and university, he ran a small lawn care and snow removal business and sold garden produce and baked goods at local farmers’ markets.
After high school, Tom attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida, where he studied Pre-Law with an emphasis on business, accounting, communication, and law. While there, he was involved in student leadership and served as a dormitory resident assistant. He graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Tom began working in the insurance industry while he was still in university. After graduating, he continued working as an insurance broker in both Edmonton and Seattle before returning to Central Agencies in Camrose.
Over the years, Tom built experience in insurance, business operations, customer service, and leadership. He earned his Chartered Insurance Professional designation in 2020, his Canadian Risk Management designation in 2021, and his Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional designation in 2023.
In 2022, Tom became the office manager at Central Agencies. In that role, he was involved in customer service, staff development, sales, accounting, technology, marketing, health and safety, and community relations.
Tom is now the Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A South Edmonton Common. He is excited to bring everything he has learned through his education and work experience into this role. His goal is to create a welcoming restaurant where guests feel well cared for and team members feel supported, valued, and proud to be part of the team.
Outside of work, Tom loves spending time with his wife, Laura, and their three wonderful children. Family is a big part of his life, and he enjoys being involved in his children’s activities and making the most of their time together. He is also a lifelong hockey player and fan and has enjoyed volunteering as a minor hockey coach over the years.
